Describe your role so far at UHY

I joined UHY Manchester in August 2023 as a Level 1 Audit and Accounts Assistant after completing three A-Levels in Accounting, Economics and Maths. I am now currently working towards my AAT L3 qualification in my apprenticeship with UHY. This opportunity allows me to gain on the job experience as I had no previous experience in audit and accounts. Since starting my apprenticeship, I have worked with several different clients and was instantly exposed to accounting and audit procedures. UHY have also provided numerous training sessions to further develop my knowledge on the job, such as internal software training and business skills.

What are the most important skills that you utilise in your current position?

In my current role, teamwork and communication are the most important skills I utilise. As I am still new to the role, I am always working with others. I am comfortable asking for help with work as the team are always happy to assist with this. This is important to make sure work is done to the best of my ability, with the help of others, if needed.

Do you feel that the apprenticeship at UHY has provided you with skills for life?

Yes, the apprenticeship at UHY has provided me with skills for life because of the work opportunities I have been given from the very start of the programme. Working with clients and the team across different levels of expertise has allowed me to develop my communication, teamwork and collaboration skills, as I am constantly working with a new team, learning to adapt to various working styles.
