Mike joined UHY Birmingham in July 2018 after graduating from Aberystwyth University with a first-class degree in Accounting and Finance. He became ICAEW qualified in 2021 and has rapidly progressed internally becoming a senior manager in 2022 and associate director in 2024.

Mike, as one of the Responsible Individuals within the firm, is responsible for a growing number of external audit clients across the education, housing, charity and wider not-for-profit sectors. 

Mike has a particular specialism in the not-for-profit sector, predominantly working with public sector bodies, charities and academy trusts. With there being an increasing scrutiny on how taxpayers’ funds are spent, the need for robust compliance and advisory services has never been greater. Mike is also responsible for managing the portfolio of independent examinations within the Birmingham office, having grown up in the West Midlands being able providing assurance and recommendations to smaller charity’s is particularly rewarding, having seen first-hand their impact within the local community.

Mike is also the Chair of the Audit and Risk committee at Haberdashers’ West Midlands Academy Trust working closely with the wider Haberdasher community he is proud to support over 12,000 pupils.

A lover of all things martial arts, Mike currently trains in MMA at Black Country Combat and Brazilian Jiu Jitsu with Gracie Barra WS2, he competed for a national title in the all-stars BJJ competition in 2022. Mike is keen Motorbike rider and currently owns a Honda CBR 1100 XX. For a change in pace Mike also enjoys watching large boxing and MMA matches through the safety of a TV screen and can often be found discussing his predictions or the results.
