Subarna Banerjee has been announced as the new Managing Partner of our London and Nottingham firm.

Subarna takes over the position from Laurence Sacker, who held the role since 2016. Subarna was formerly the head of the national charity and not-for-profit group. As well as working with a wide range of regulatory bodies, charities, academies, and universities, he also provides audit services to large private groups involved in property and publishing.

Subarna joined UHY Hacker Young in 2014, having previously worked in senior roles within the UK’s Top 6 accounting firms.

As well as taking on the role of Managing Partner, Subarna will continue to work with his clients which include three of the country’s top ten grant giving charities amongst other high-profile charities and not-for-profit bodies.

Subarna says that his role will be to work with all the partners to further develop our audit and advisory client base across a range of sectors, where we have demonstrable expertise, including the audit of companies listed on both UK and international markets. In addition to the focus on the firm’s audit and advisory offering, we have made recent senior appointments within corporate finance, turnaround and recovery and taxation into our London office and these are expected to be key growth areas over the next few years.

Subarna stated: “It’s a real honour to take on this role. I’ll be building on the great work of Laurence and his predecessor, Ladislav Hornan, in developing UHY Hacker Young’s position as one of the UK’s leading accountancy firms which has a fantastic client base.”

“The firm has developed an outstandingly positive culture that is really friendly, meritocratic and professional. Being a relative newcomer to the firm, that is something I still find refreshing.”

“UHY Hacker Young is always an exciting place to work and we have ambitious plans for the future, but our priority over the next few months must be to deliver all the help we can to ensure clients get through the Coronavirus outbreak in the best possible shape.”

“Our main business purpose, over many years now, has been “Helping you prosper” – which is our mission for both our clients and our internal teams. In times such as these, as we have experienced in previous national crises, our teams are dedicating all of their time to supporting our corporate and personal clients. By giving the most up to date advice on the support packages available to them and providing guidance and advice to enable them to protect their businesses and their own personal and family financial position through the coming weeks and months.”

“We have enormously loyal clients and that is really motivating all of our people to work as hard as possible for them.”

Looking ahead, as well as expanding key service lines, we will also continue the growth of its international work and increase investment in technology and cloud services.

Laurence Sacker, who will continue to be active in the firm, commented: “The entire partnership is delighted that Subarna is taking up this role. He has the right blend of skills, ideas and experience to take UHY Hacker Young forward.”

Subarna has also been appointed to join Laurence as the UK’s second Founder Director to the Board of UHY International.

Adds Subarna: “I’ll be the third managing partner in 25 years; that says a lot about the stability and success of this firm and its previous leaders. I’ll also be able to rely on the advice of both Laurence and Ladislav, whose experience and insight will be invaluable.”
