Teachers' Pension Scheme deadline looming

Don’t forget that the unaudited certificate needs to be submitted by Friday 29 May, but you have until Wednesday 30 September to submit your audited certificate.

The process is much the same as it has been for a number of years, with detailed guidance being provided by the TPS on their website.

You should be able to get everything you need from your payroll provider to complete the EOYC, and the audit of the certificate should be straight forward as long as you can access payroll records, staff records and of course the TPS employer portal. If you are intending to have your EOYC audited by the May deadline then the audit work is likely to be completed remotely - you may need to allow more time to provide everything to your auditor if this is the case. If you are working toward the September deadline then some of these audits may be able to be done ‘in person’.

Don’t forget that an EOYC will be required for each employer - so if you are a MAT you may have to complete an EOYC for each of the schools in your Trust.

To save both time and money - you may wish to consider reviewing how many ‘employers’ your Trust has. If you employ all staff centrally, then only one EOYC will be needed cutting down on both the time taken to complete the certificates, as well as the cost of having each EOYC audited.

The next step
