  • Westminster, Kensington & Chelsea, Cheshire and Elmbridge top supercar rankings.

The UK’s supercar centre is Westminster in London with 532 supercars (ie., Bugatti, Ferrari, Koenigsegg, Lamborghini and McLaren). Westminster, including Mayfair and Knightsbridge, is home to many of the UK’s billionaires, such as Jim Ratcliffe, Lakshmi Mittal and former Formula One chief executive Bernie Ecclestone.

Kensington and Chelsea, the location of choice for socialites and highflying city executives, comes in a close second with 479 supercars.

Outside of London, Cheshire, with its area known as the ‘Golden Triangle’, has the highest concentration of supercars at 296. The area is home to some of the world’s most famous footballers, including Wayne Rooney, Peter Crouch and Manchester United captain Harry Maguire.

Elmbridge, the ‘Beverley Hills of Britain’, takes the number four spot with 236 supercars. High-profile celebrities and legendary sportsmen Jamie Redknapp, John Terry, Ronnie Wood and Andy Murray live within Elmbridge and the surrounding area.

In Scotland, Edinburgh has the highest concentration of supercars with a total of 89.

Supercars started to gain popularity around the year 2000 when a boom in oil and other resource prices created a legion of new multimillionaires. Since then, the dramatic growth in the wealth of technology entrepreneurs has created another leg to the growth of the supercar market.

David Kendrick, partner at our Manchester office, said: “Despite all of the economic uncertainty around Brexit, UK celebrities, sport stars and business executives continue to snap up the latest supercars, leading to many supercar manufacturers having lengthy waiting lists.

Out of all of the brands, Ferrari is still the biggest selling supercar brand but Lamborghinis and McLarens are quickly becoming the supercars of choice.

While Westminster maintains its supercar hotspot crown, we’re likely to see a bigger concentration of supercars outside of London going forward as the wealthy seek more space as working from home becomes the new norm.”
