The evening started with an insightful speech from David Kendrick, partner, about the exciting future plans that lay ahead for UHY Manchester. This was then followed by a wonderful three course meal, which was accompanied by live entertainment from a saxophonist, DJ and magician, setting the perfect ambience for the night. After the meal, it was time for the long-awaited main event… the awards! This consisted of 8 carefully selected categories each demonstrating the appreciation that the firm have for the UHY Manchester team.
The 8 awards that were presented consisted of; Support Services winner, Tax team winner, Corporate Finance winner, Accounts and Business Advisory winner, Audit and Accounts winner, Unsung Hero, Commitment to Values and, lastly, the Employee of the Year.
Once the awards had finished, an incredible live band played whilst the staff were showcasing their best moves on the dancefloor. The evening also provided the perfect opportunity for different departments to mix together and blend as one team.
The Employee of the Year award was voted by the staff, making this the most anticipated award of the evening. With the majority of the votes from staff, alongside great recommendations from partners, Luke Thompson, audit and accounts senior manager, won the well-deserved prestige title as UHY Manchester’s Employee of the Year 2022.
David Kendrick stated “Having worked tirelessly over the last 12 months, not only developing himself but also assisting colleagues across the business in all departments, Luke was a very worthy winner. He lives and breathes the UHY values and received numerous nominations, highlighting his strengths and popularity across the firm. He was a worthy winner and faced some very tough competition from our amazing team.”
With other team members also commenting on Luke’s commitment; to the clients, staff, and values of UHY Manchester, one staff member commented, “Luke really does have the UHY values running through his veins. He is supportive, friendly and makes time for everyone even when he is busy himself. It is clear to see that he wants to help and guide those around him to be the best they can be. You couldn’t wish for a better mentor!”
Luke gave a lovely speech on the evening, making his team members laugh and cheer. Later he stated “I’m thrilled to have been voted Employee of the Year on a fantastic night for UHY Manchester. Collaborating with such a friendly, vibrant team, full of talent, makes it a privilege to come into work every day. On a personal level I’m very pleased that hard work continues to be recognised and rewarded and it’s a very exciting time to play a key part in a fast-growing firm with huge ambition.”
After an amazing year, the UHY Awards Night was the perfect way to thank all the staff for their continued hard work and to celebrate the talent of UHY. The team are now looking forward to the UHY Awards Night 2023.
