Everyone at UHY is incredibly proud to see our partner and national head of sustainable business services, Harriet Hodgson-Grove, named among the Top 50 Women in Accounting 2026. The international awards, organised by Ignition, celebrate women who are creating meaningful impact for their clients, colleagues, communities and the accounting profession as a whole.

Championing sustainability at UHY and beyond

A key reason for Harriet's recognition is the role she has played in building UHY's sustainability offering and helping both the firm and its clients navigate a rapidly changing business landscape. Driven by a passion for sustainability and ESG, she has transformed what was once seen as a niche area into a recognised advisory service that helps organisations understand risk, build resilience and create long-term value.

Internally, Harriet has also played a leading role in shaping UHY's approach to sustainable business, embedding sustainability into our operations and culture. She launched UHY's first Sustainable Business Report in 2025 and more recently led the publication of our latest update in July, helping drive the next phase of our sustainability journey following the combination of Affinia and UHY's London, Nottingham and Brighton offices.

Helping shape the future of the profession

This year's awards celebrate women who are ‘Igniting Change’, and Harriet exemplifies that theme through her commitment to innovation, education and leadership. A regular speaker at conferences and industry events, she helps clients and colleagues understand the opportunities presented by sustainability and evolving reporting requirements.

She has also championed the adoption of AI within the firm, helping colleagues embrace new ways of working while maintaining the trusted advice and professional judgement that clients value most.

From trainee to partner and mentor

Harriet's recognition is a reflection of the career she has built at UHY. Having joined the firm as a trainee in 2011 and becoming a partner in 2023, she has established herself as an influential voice within the profession and a strong advocate for helping businesses create long-term value.

Beyond her client work, Harriet is committed to creating opportunities for others. She plays a leading role in UHY's partnership with Future Frontiers, supporting young people from disadvantaged backgrounds through mentoring and careers guidance. Her commitment to the programme was recognised with a Future Frontiers Long-term Commitment Award, a particularly meaningful accolade as she was nominated by students and programme managers. She is also known throughout the firm as a mentor and role model who actively encourages colleagues to develop their careers, build confidence and seize new opportunities.

Helping clients, colleagues and communities prosper

We asked Harriet what this recognition means to her:

"I'm incredibly honoured to have been included in this year's Top 50 Women in Accounting alongside so many inspiring women from across the world. What makes this recognition particularly special is that it celebrates people who are helping drive positive change in our profession.

Sustainability has always been something I'm passionate about, but equally important to me is helping others to develop, whether that's supporting clients, mentoring colleagues or encouraging the next generation to consider a career in accountancy. This award is very much a reflection of the fantastic colleagues, clients and wider network who have supported and inspired me throughout my career."

Asked what advice she would give to other women building a career in accountancy, Harriet said:

"Don't worry if your career doesn't follow the path you expected. Back yourself, put yourself forward for opportunities and find something you're genuinely passionate about. Success isn't always a straight line and sometimes the detours turn out to be the most important part of the journey."

We are delighted to see Harriet recognised on the global stage. It is a thoroughly deserved recognition of the impact she continues to make for our clients, our people and the wider profession.
