The campaign was launched with a simple objective, to encourage charities to:
- Be fraud aware
- Take time to check
- Keep your charity safe
The charity fraud awareness hub is a fantastic resource with lots of useful information, help sheets, case studies, tutorials and webinars.
We would encourage finance staff working in the charity sector, and trustees, to dip into the hub and make use of the resources available.
The current webinar considers the fraud and cybercrime in the next 6 to 12 months from a range of different charity perspectives and outlines some of the big issues that charities should be thinking about now in order to prepare.
The Charity Commission has also published advice for charities on how trustees (and donors) can strengthen their defences in response to fears the pandemic has created environments that are enabling charity fraud.
If you have any questions about how your charity can protect itself against fraud, would like to discuss the internal audit service we offer which can providing on-going assurance that your systems and controls are robust, or just generally have any questions in this area, please do not hesitate to contact Allan Hickie or your usual UHY adviser.
