UHY Hacker Young Abergavenny is an independently owned and managed Accountancy Practice (with another office in Newport). UHY Hacker Young is a Group of 13 independent practices joined together by common goals and objectives, with 24 offices across the UK. UHY Hacker Young Abergavenny (with Newport) are amongst the largest independent accountancy practices in Wales. The business has continued with double digit fee growth during the Covid pandemic so the team continues to be office-based to ensure that client deadlines are met and efficiencies are maintained.

Overview

  • UHY Hacker Young is recruiting a Manager/ Senior Manager to join its growing Business Services team in the Abergavenny office #
  • The current Business Services Director remains in place
  • The Abergavenny Office is made up of 1xConsultant, Director, 2x Seniors, a Trainee and Receptionist

Business Services functions are as follows:

  • Outsourcing which includes bookkeeping and VAT services
  • Limited Company Services which is mainly preparation of Limited Company Financial Statements (this is the main area for this role)
  • Personal Tax Returns
  • Corporate Tax Returns
  • Specialist work such as trusts

UHY Hacker Young has specialist departments that deal with payroll, company secretarial and audit services and has support in all areas. The majority of clients are £50-250k turnover in a wide variety of sectors. 

Job description

The role will involve:

  • Managing a Portfolio of clients (numbers depending on experience)
  • Preparation of VAT Returns
  • Preparing management accounts
  • Preparing Year End Financial Statements
  • Personal tax returns
  • Corporation Tax Returns
  • Report to Abergavenny Director

Person specifications

  • Qualified Accountant (ACA/ ACCA) with a minimum of 2 years PQE
  • At least 4 years experience in Practice
  • Be approachable to members of the team
  • Lead by example and instil a sense of professionalism in the team
  • Manage the team work planning, allocating the appropriate level of work to more junior members of staff
  • Maintain objectivity, professionalism and independence in client relationship
  • Support less experienced members of the team as required
  • Well researched, enthusiastic and knowledgeable on the work and role of the Chartered Accountant, and UHY.

Working arrangements

The working week: 37.5 hours per week (Monday to Friday) to be worked from 8.30AM to 5.00PM with flexibility of hours to meet specific work demands. Location: Your work base is our Abergavenny Office. However, you may be required to spend time working at client premises infrequently.
