Lee is a tax manager in our Manchester office. Lee began his tax career working at HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC) in 2000 as a front line manager and trainer, before moving to a local small practice in Liverpool in 2005 to undertake a personal tax compliance role. After two years, Lee moved to a large independent firm, where he spent a further ten years dealing with corporate tax enquiries, research and development (R&D) and high value legal cases including corporate disputes, divorce valuations and catastrophic injury cases. Whilst at this practice, Lee developed a specialism in religious orders and clergy tax. More latterly, Lee held a Corporate Portfolio Lead role at a big four firm, dealing with large listed companies and multi-national groups and a R&D development role, dealing with pharmaceutical, software development and aerospace engineering companies.

Lee joined UHY in early July as the R&D Tax Manager in the corporate tax department where he now advises companies on research and development tax matters and assists companies with making claims to the very generous R&D related tax reliefs and tax credits. Having held roles in public and private practice, Lee has accumulated a vast wealth of experience in the tax sector, both in terms of direct compliance and client advisory/support. Lee is therefore perfectly placed to advise clients in making successful claims to the available tax reliefs and tax credits associated with research and development.

Lee has a keen eye for detail, honed during his time dealing with tax and accountancy related forensic/litigation cases and this eye for detail has proved highly useful when dealing with HMRC and assisting clients. In his spare time, Lee is a keen member of Liverpool Century Road Club (cycle club), mountain biker and follows Liverpool FC and St Helens RFC.
