Subarna Banerjee appointed as chairman of UHY International

The UHY network has offices in 101 countries, 8,500 staff and revenues of over $600m.

Subarna is the Managing Partner of our London and Nottingham firm, a UK member of the UHY international network.

Subarna joined UHY Hacker Young in 2014, having previously worked in senior roles within the UK’s Top 6 accounting firms.

Subarna comments: “Becoming chairman of one of the world’s leading accounting and consultancy networks at a time when the globalisation of business is bouncing back so strongly after Covid, is a really exciting prospect.”

“Many of the current challenges for businesses, such as inflation, supply chain disruption and staff shortages are often going to be solved by investing more in the global expansion of those businesses. Our clients want us to work with them on that global expansion, partnering with them in more countries.”

“My predecessors have done a fantastic job in building such a comprehensive network of firms across the world. They’ve ensured that membership of UHY allows our firms to rapidly build large teams of experts across borders and to compete for ever bigger international mandates.”

“My role will be to continue to help that process and to accelerate growth in key global business centres. Growth in key economies will help feed more work around the network. Greater strength in geographies like the US, EU, China means more international work for our member firms as a whole.”

Subarna adds that one of the key priorities of the next year will be the continued enhancements in the way that international teams work together.

Explains Subarna: “Lockdown has given all of our teams a great lesson in just how easy and efficient it is to collaborate across multiple offices and time zones. As a result, our members now have an even greater appetite to do more cross border work, collaborating with offices in different jurisdictions.”

“Another area where UHY is helping national member firms is in accelerating their growth, both through advice and support on acquiring other local firms, or in helping them speed up organic growth.”

Subarna says that member firms as a whole are taking on an increasing amount of international work, especially in sectors such as technology, manufacturing, retail & leisure, real estate and not-for-profit organisations.

Subarna will retain his role at UHY Hacker Young whilst he undertakes the three-year position as Chairman of UHY.

Subarna takes over as Chairman from Dennis Petri who is a Partner of UHY LLP the US member firm of UHY.
