Here at UHY East, we understand that by supporting society through volunteering, we help the local community while providing fulfilling and rewarding activities for the UHY team. This has great benefits for mental health, as studies have shown volunteers gain a sense of self-worth and purpose when helping others.
Uber for volunteers
We’re really excited to announce we’ve signed up to an innovative, online app called onHand which matches charities to local, vetted volunteers quickly and safely.
OnHand have partnered with some national charities such as Age UK and British Red Cross as well as local charities and councils to provide micro volunteering opportunities for keen individuals who are always on the go! Simple tasks like shopping, dog walking, companion calls and youth mentoring are a few clicks away and we’re really looking forward to making a difference.
There are more than 10,000 registered volunteers already using the service which has been dubbed the “Uber” for volunteers.
By encouraging our team to register with OnHand, we are looking to help as many local charities as possible, while giving our people the chance to take part in flexible volunteering opportunities to fit around their lifestyle.
