Energy Bill relief scheme

Who is eligible for the scheme?

The scheme is available to all businesses, charities and public sector organisations on a non-domestic contract who are:

  • On existing fixed price contracts that were agreed on or after 1 December 2021.
  • Signing new fixed priced contracts.
  • On deemed/ out of contract or variable tariffs.
  • On flexible purchase or similar contracts.

By how much will your bills be reduced?

The scheme is essentially a price cap for non-domestic consumers in Great Britain. The cap has been set at £211 per MWh (megawatt hour) for electricity and £75 per MWh for gas (which is the government supported price).
This is compared to the estimated wholesale portion of the unit price you would be paying in order to calculate your discount. Therefore, the amount of reduction will vary based on your supplier.

How do you apply for the scheme?

The support will be automatically applied to all eligible bills by the energy supplier – you do not need to take action or apply for this scheme.

This is important to remember to avoid scams which are becoming more common. You should not need to provide your bank details for this scheme and if you are asked to do so this may be a scam.
