Helping you prosper
From policy to practice
With the DfE’s 2025 ambition for all education settings to have a nominated sustainability lead and a climate action plan, academy trusts are facing growing expectations to embed sustainability at every level. During the session, we discussed how trusts can:
- Build strong governance structures through sustainability leads and committees
- Develop climate action plans that drive real impact, covering decarbonisation, biodiversity, and education
- Engage pupils, staff, and local communities in meaningful, measurable change
Bringing sustainability to life in the classroom
The session also shone a light on Earth Cubs, an award-winning educational platform bringing sustainability to life for young learners through fun, interactive content. From EYFS to KS2, Earth Cubs offers resources that make climate action accessible and inspiring, from planet-saving heroes and real-world stories to hands-on activities that link directly to the UN Sustainable Development Goals.
Michelle, Head of Growth and Impact at Earth Cubs, explained how “education is one of the most powerful tools for climate action,” while environmentalist Edd Moore shared practical tips for embedding sustainability across the curriculum, including how small classroom projects can ripple out into whole-school initiatives.
A shared mission for sustainable education
Our partnership with Earth Cubs is all about helping academy trusts connect strategy with impact, supporting schools to meet regulatory requirements while empowering pupils to be active participants in building a greener future.
