Una graduated from the University of Ulster at Jordanstown in 1996 with a BA (Hons) degree in accounting. She subsequently successfully undertook a post graduate diploma in accountancy at Queens University Belfast.
Una joined UHY Hacker Young Fitch, Belfast in September 1997 and commenced training as a Chartered Accountant with the firm. She qualified with UHY in 2001 and was promoted to audit manager in 2003. Following the purchase of a rural practice in 2005, Una was reassigned from the Belfast office and promoted to director within the Kilkeel practice.
Una is responsible for an extensive and varied portfolio of clients from owner managed businesses, through to professional partnerships, clubs and limited companies. Her experience spans many sectors including manufacturing, construction, retail, marine fishing, farming, not-for-profit organisations and charities. Una specialises in all aspects of client management for small and medium-sized enterprises.
As a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Ireland, with almost 20 years’ experience within the Northern Ireland SME sector, Una has built an extensive knowledge in all areas of general practice. Her routine workload is suitably varied and includes, audit, accountancy, personal and corporate tax planning, management and financial consultancy, business development and forensic accounting. Una is dedicated to improving client operating and tax efficiency. She places distinct emphasis on the implementation of tax and succession planning strategies for the owner managed business.
Una is particularly interested in supporting start-up enterprise; from delivery of business plans and financial forecasts, through to the set-up of accounting systems and provision of onsite operational training. Outside work, Una enjoys spending time with her young family, supporting local fundraising groups and walking the Mourne Mountains.
