Prior to UHY, Nik served as a Vice President at JP Morgan, responsible for UK VAT compliance and all indirect tax aspects of the Global Commodities Trading business worldwide. After JP Morgan, Nik became part of EY’s Energy Team, specialising in international trade and global movement of goods. On secondment from EY, Nik acted as the Director of Indirect Taxes at Centrica/British Gas for the period 2018/19, where he was responsible for all Indirect Tax aspects of the group around the globe, including the Liquefied Natural Gas Trading business. Nik has coordinated a number of projects which involve obtaining VAT advice in various jurisdictions across the world, compiling the VAT implications and producing reports which recommend optimal supply chain arrangements.

Nik trained as a VAT consultant at PwC from 2010 to 2015. During this period Nik passed the accountancy exams for the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW). At PwC, Nik was involved in projects assisting Public Sector and Not for Profit clients. In his final year, Nik was seconded to HSBC in order to review its VAT compliance workings and the Partial Exemption Methodology.

Nik has 13 years’ experience in VAT combining practice with in-house knowledge particularly in finance/banking, energy and global supply chains. At UHY, Nik provides daily indirect tax support to a wide variety of clients ranging from entities in the property sector to international banks, entities arranging global logistics, auction houses, telecommunication companies as well as schools. Nik deals with both compliance obligations and complex technical VAT matters such as partial exemption special methods and alternative dispute resolution procedures with HMRC.

Nik holds an MSc with Distinction in Economics from the London School of Economics.
