Daniel joined UHY in September 2010 under the graduate scheme. He trained as a chartered accountant in the Accounts and Audit department, progressing as a senior, supervisor and then became an assistant manager in December 2017. He graduated from the University of Leeds where he studied BSc Accounting & Finance (industrial), which involved a year working at Zolfo Cooper LLP.
Daniel supports a wide range of clients, including owner managed businesses, large companies and Multi Academy Trusts (MATs). Daniel’s particular area of expertise lies in applying new accounting policies and standards under UK GAAP (FRS 102) for clients, including various disclosure exemptions for small companies or those within a group. His other technical expertise includes the application of IFRS standards such as IFRS 16 leases.
Daniel has a number of years’ experience leading and managing teams on audit. His experiences include auditing 86 joint ventures of an optician group, a large kitchen appliance distributor and supporting academy sector clients through both external and internal audit work. In addition to audit, Daniel has experience handling due diligence investigations, in connection with the public flotation of companies. He is also the treasurer of Bestwood Welfare Black Diamonds Brass Band, a subsection of the Bestwood Miners’ Welfare Institute and Recreation Ground charity.
In his spare time, he is a keen brass band player, having played the cornet for over 20 years and more recently taken up the flugelhorn.
