Charles has a great deal of audit and tax experience, expert witness reports, forensic accounting, as well as other specialist skills relating to property, land owners and farmers generally.

He trained with David Guest at a small practice in London and subsequently worked at the London office of UHY Hacker Young for over ten years, before moving to medium-sized firms as a director, then partner. He now splits his time between our Winchester and Brighton offices.

Through Charles’s many clients, he has built up a specialism in the property sector. Clients range from property developers, investors and property management and Charles and his team deliver audit, accounts, VAT planning, taxation planning, capital allowance specialist services and compliance for these owner managed businesses or investment funds with property portfolios. Charles works closely with the construction sector including the umbrella organisation, The Construction Industry Council and specialist recruitment and temporary staff agencies for the construction sector.

As many of Charles’s clients are owner managed businesses, Charles gets to know the family and their aims and aspirations for the current owners and the next generation advising on plans and forecasts along with IHT planning to secure the best outcome for the whole family and their estate.

Charles is the International liaison partner for both the Brighton and Winchester offices. He regularly attend meetings and works with other network offices around the globe in over 100 countries as part of UHY International. Charles assists with International tax planning and advising clients with overseas business or private interests.

Charles has a wealth of experience in the not-for-profit sector and has worked with and audited many charities over the last 30 years. His work in the sector spans everything from running the back office of a national charity, to supporting educational charities and through to the audit of a large group of schools, including the provision of expert witness reports for the high court for an Educational Charity.

Charles has been a charity trustee, successfully delivering the charity’s objective and closing it down. Charles is also a member of UHY’s national charities and not-for-profit group and also the national academy and free school group.

In his spare time, Charles enjoys spending quality time with his family, getting his hands dirty on the family farm, and being involved with the rural community, the church and various charities.
