Stacey: Professional growth and personal balance
Joining UHY Nottingham over six years ago as a full-time team member Stacey Harland has since progressed to her current role as a Senior Manager in their Accounting and Business Services department. Stacey's journey at UHY has been shaped by her passion for helping others, both clients and colleagues, and the flexibility to manage commitments outside of work. We asked Stacey to share her story with us.
Joining UHY I was eager to find a role where I felt I was making a difference. After six years I have found that my work feels rewarding for two main reasons, helping my clients to prosper by navigating challenges and seizing opportunities, and being able to guide colleagues as they develop their skills and confidence. I’ve always been passionate about mentoring, and seeing others progress which has been an incredibly fulfilling aspect of my role today.
I originally started at UHY working full-time, but due to personal circumstances and having a disabled child I needed greater flexibility to manage school schedules and family life. UHY stepped in with unwavering support, enabling me to adjust my hours to maintain a healthy work life balance without sacrificing my career aspirations.
The trust UHY has placed in me has been transformative. I’ve been given the flexibility to meet my obligations outside of work, whilst also being encouraged to pursue my professional goals. Having a supportive mentor and access to personal development coaching has been invaluable, allowing me to grow both personally and professionally. Some of my proudest moments have been mentoring colleagues and watching their progress over time.
My situation is a testament to UHY’s commitment to its people. When I transitioned to part-time hours to better support my family, I never felt that my reduced hours created a barrier to progression.
I’m excited to see what the future holds for me and the team!
Stacey Harland’s story reflects UHY’s dedication to fostering growth, flexibility, and meaningful connections—both within the team and with clients.
