UHY supports Prem Biomass with investment opportunity

25 September 2018

UHY Hacker Young Corporate Finance Director Rob Starr has been supporting the launch of innovative bioenergy company Prem Biomass.

With three years of hard work laying the foundations, and with strategic partners now in place, the founders of Prem Biomass are energised and ready to launch. The company is to supply biomass material to major power companies in South East Asia (SEA) and to construct small-scale power plants producing localised energy to those underdeveloped areas in need of low cost, sustainable, reliable and environmentally friendly energy in Asia and Sub Saharan Africa (SSA).  See more information about the investment opportunity here.

Its founders, Bertil Petersson and Yatish Chouhan, have worked tirelessly to build a network of contacts and associates with the objective of delivering a scalable platform for a biomass business that can fill the growing demand in the global power industry. Initial operations will be based in Cambodia and then Ghana to meet regional demand in SEA and SSA.

Yatish Chouhan explains, “The global biomass pellets market was worth an estimated US$7.65 billion in 2016 and is expected to reach US$15.9 billion by 2022 . We want to take a fraction of this market, and build a significant bioenergy business, focused on demand in Asia, the fastest growing regional segment for biomass pellets.”
Bertil Petersson, who is fluent in Japanese, added “We can deliver security of demand for investors through offtake agreements with power companies, initially in Korea and Japan, and provide sustainable biofuel at low cost, generating bioelectricity whilst maintaining a role of social responsibility – a vertically integrated bioenergy company.”

As profiled in Master Investor, the two founders explain the business and market in more detail and will be presenting at an alternative energy investor event on 11 October at 6.15pm-9.00pm at the NEX Exchange, so please register your interest to attend.

Prem Biomass is seeking a total of US$10 million equity investment, with an initial target of US$2 million.
