UHY Hacker Young raise over £15,000 for the Mental Health Foundation

  • Surpassed initial target of £10K
  • Fundraising efforts included marathons, Office Olympics, bake sales and fancy dress days

We are delighted to announce that the fundraising efforts of staff across our offices in the UK have raised over £15,000 for our national charity the Mental Health Foundation (MHF).

MHF work towards the prevention of mental health problems by leading the search for solutions based on evidence and practice that work in the real world, and deliver programmes, training and guidance to support good mental health.

MHF was chosen to be our national charity in 2017 and our 22 offices have taken part in a wide variety of activities to raise funds. Our national charity days have included themed fancy dress days, bake sales in collaboration with MHF’s national campaign Tea & Talk, and Office Olympics competitions.

A raffle and silent auction at our national Away Day in September raised over £2,500 for the charity, thanks to several hotels, restaurants and other businesses that donated fantastic prizes.

Members of our Nottingham office matched this amount, with two teams taking part in the Nottingham Robin Hood half marathon and mini-marathon, adding over £2,500 to the total raised. Marie Pegram, partner in our Letchworth office, ran the London marathon raising over £2,300 for the charity – an incredible achievement especially as this was the hottest London marathon on record.

Subarna Banerjee, head of charities and not-for-profit at our London office, says: “Once again, our team at UHY Hacker Young have made a fantastic effort to raise money for our national charity, and we are extremely proud of their achievements.”

“The Mental Health Foundation is a charity whose cause we admire and believe in, and we are very pleased to be able to support their valuable work to raise the profile of mental health, particularly through their studies on stress and on wellbeing at work.”

“Everyone has had a lot of fun taking part in various fundraising activities, from bake sales and fancy dress days to sports events and marathons, which as well as being really enjoyable to take part in, have also helped colleagues get to know each other better – a fundamental part of encouraging a happier workplace.”

“The amount raised is testament to the team’s willingness to get involved with fundraising initiatives and to support a cause they believe in.”

Chris O’Sullivan, Head of Business Development and Engagement at MHF added: “We are delighted to receive £15,000 from UHY Hacker Young – raised by staff throughout a year of exciting activities. From team events like the office Olympics, to personal challenges like the Robin Hood Marathon and the London Marathon in the sweltering heat, UHY Hacker Young staff have shown their commitment to helping us create a world with good mental health for all. Thank you all. It’s been great to see UHY Hacker Young prioritise mental health, and we applaud the firm for taking steps to improve mental health across the business.”
