We have appointed corporate finance partner Laurence Sacker as the new managing partner for our London and Nottingham firm, with effect from 1 May 2016.
Laurence Sacker takes over the role from Ladislav Hornan, after more than 20 successful years in the post.
Laurence joined UHY Hacker Young in 1998. He has particular expertise in advising clients on raising equity and debt finance via stock market listings and M&A deals and has been instrumental in leading strong growth in our AIM offering. He holds the corporate finance designation from the ICAEW in recognition of his skills and is also a member of the Academy of Experts
His appointment will see the firm continue its focus on developing client services and driving further growth, enhancing sector strengths and service specialisms, and cementing its position as a firm which combines the client care of a small-to-mid-sized firm with big-firm expertise.
During Ladislav Hornan’s tenure, the firm contributed to the consolidation of UHY Hacker Young’s UK brand, and also assisted the growth of the UHY international network, driving its global expansion – which also remains a key on-going objective of the firm’s strategy.
We are currently ranked 15th in the Accountancy Age Top 50 UK accountancy firms, with turnover of £52.6million in 2015 – up from 20th ten years ago. Now in its 91st year, it has 103 partners and 526 professional staff working from 27 locations around the country.
Both Ladislav and Laurence are directors of UHY’s global network of audit, accounting, tax and consulting firms which has offices in over 325 business centres across more than 99 countries, making it the 16th largest international accounting and consultancy network in the world.
Laurence Sacker, says: “I’d like to thank Ladislav on behalf of everyone at UHY Hacker Young for his enormous contribution to the firm’s impressive performance during his tenure. Ladislav has helped build UHY Hacker Young into a very solid and well regarded firm.”
“I’m delighted to be taking over the role of managing partner to help continue to build on its success.”
“In recent years, we’ve grown considerably both in terms of our size and our standing as a leading UK accountancy network, as well as on the global stage through our international network.”
“While we have extended our reach, developed our specialist expertise and strengthened our reputation as a major player, at the same time, we’re proud to have retained the same level of personal service that you would find in a much smaller firm.”
“As we look ahead, a key priority will be to harness the power of new technologies to ensure we stay ahead of the curve in providing efficient and value-added services to clients.”
“While geographically, our UK coverage is extensive, we will also be looking to enhance our reach in areas such as Leeds and the South West where we have identified significant scope for greater market penetration, and to continue to boost our international network.”
Ladislav Hornan joined the firm in 1974, becoming a partner in 1980. He took over as managing partner in 1995, when there were just nine offices turning over £12.6m. As well as setting up the Russia, China and Gulf desks in the firm’s UK offices, he was also twice the chairman of UHY’s international network.
He will now take on a business development role, and remains on the Board of UHY’s international network.
Ladislav Hornan says: “Laurence is the ideal choice to continue to drive UHY Hacker Young forward, given his extensive experience with the firm and his wide-ranging expertise as an adviser to businesses of all sizes across diverse industry sectors.”
“The executive is in a stronger position than ever, and I’m very much looking forward to continuing to support UHY in its growth as part of my future role in business development at the firm.”
