Cloud accounting case study: Seaham Harbour CIC

9 May 2018

We are very pleased to bring you a case study based on the experience of Seaham Harbour Community Interest Company (CIC), a client of UHY Torgersens who we have recently worked with to transition to a cloud accounting system.

Seaham Harbour CIC is a not-for-profit organisation which manages Seaham Harbour Marina. Its principal objective is to provide a sustainable, continuously improving facility that will serve the community with maritime activities.

As an existing client of UHY Torgersens, Seaham Harbour CIC approached us to assist with resolving issues that they were experiencing with their accounting system. Their data was held in a number of places and different tools were being used across the business.

Having met with Seaham Harbour CIC to evaluate their problems and assess their future requirements, we recommended Sage Business Cloud Accounting as the best fit. This online system is simple to use and importantly for the business, enabled a speedy and straightforward transition from their existing Sage 50 package. Of particular importance was the ability to export all customer and supplier information and opening balances.

Seaham Harbour CIC have been using the new system since October 2017 and have found it to have a number of advantages, including the ability to automatically connect to bank feeds, resulting in time savings and improved accuracy.

Our client now has access to meaningful, useful and accurate information, defined by department, to help with decision making and improved debt recovery.

Lisa Simpson, Marina manager said: ‘We have worked closely with UHY Torgersens over the past few months and I can honestly say transferring to the cloud is the best decision we have made. The benefits of the new system are fantastic, it has saved us lots of time and allowed us to concentrate on other areas of our business. The transition from our old system to Sage Business Cloud was seamless. The service Donna has provided has been first class – she really is dedicated to her job.  I would have no hesitations in recommending her or Sage Business Cloud to any other business.’
