UHY sponsors Lake District Calvert Trust

17 July 2019

UHY are proud to be sponsoring the Lake District Calvert Trust for the second year running. We asked Jennifer Scott, Fundraising Manager, to share some insights into the work of the Trust:

“The Lake District Calvert Trust (LDCT) has been delivering outdoor activities for people with disabilities for over 40 years from their specialist outdoor activities centre, providing a life-enhancing service to people affected by disability: be it sensory, learning or physical, helping to break down barriers and enrich as many lives as possible. No matter the level of disability an individual has, they can share the same adventure as their able-bodied peers and relatives. The benefits the charity’s activities offer to visitors are: the enrichment of their lives, confidence building and personal achievement; recreational activities that can be transferred into everyday living; personal development and rehabilitation leading to integration.

“Our mission is to enable people with disabilities to achieve their potential through the challenge of adventurous activities in the countryside in order for them to develop, change perceptions and make positive and lasting changes to their lives.”

The Friends of Calvert Trust provides valuable support, promoting the work of the Trust and raising money from various activities including organised events such as the eagerly anticipated Ali Baba outdoor play. The funds raised are used to buy equipment, including customised mini buses, which are essential for taking visitors to offsite activities.

We are proud to work alongside the Trust and are extremely grateful to all the sponsors and organisations that are supporting this event.
