Three members of the UHY Hacker Young Manchester team will be taking part in the London marathon to raise money for our national charity; Children With Cancer UK.
Max Whiteley, Ben Hunt and Andrew Hancock from the Manchester office will be donning their trainers in preparation for the marathon on 26 April 2020.
The London Marathon started in 1981 and has been held in the spring of every year since. Stats from last year’s event uncovered that £66.4 million was raised for charity, setting a new record for an annual single-day charity fundraising event for the 13th successive year.
That event brought the total raised for charity by the world’s greatest marathon to more than £1 billion since the event was founded in 1981.
The UHY trio will be running for Children with Cancer UK, an extremely worthy cause which UHY Hacker Young has nominated as its chosen charity for the year.
Children With Cancer UK currently funds more than 60 research projects at centres of excellence around the UK. These projects are investigating a broad range of childhood cancers – helping them to better understand these diseases and to find more effective, less toxic ways of treating them.
Through their investment in research, they are taking forward their understanding of childhood cancer, to give new insights into ways of treating young patients with even the most difficult forms of cancer. They are working to drive up the survival rate even further by developing more effective curative therapies with fewer negative side effects.
