Born in Prague, Ladislav came to London in 1968 where he completed his education and professional qualifications. He joined UHY Hacker Young in 1974, where he studied for an ACCA qualification and became an insolvency practitioner (IP). Ladislav’s IP roles have been varied and exciting. He has worked as an adviser to UK clearing banks and other financial institutions as well as clients of law firms and other accountancy practices. In one of his most interesting cases, he was appointed to the British Boxing Board of Control (BBBoC), the governing body for boxing in the UK, during one of its most controversial periods.

Ladislav became a partner in the firm in 1980 and was elected managing partner in 1995. In the post he has witnessed significant growth and development within UHY; across our London and Nottingham offices, within the UK Group and throughout our global network.

Ladislav’s leadership has also included two stints as Chair of UHY International, first serving as Chairman of UHY from 2002 until 2007 and again from 2012 to 2015.

During his time as Chairman, and on the Board of UHY, he has been responsible for driving considerable growth within the international network, overseeing the expansion of the network from 142 offices in 2002 to 319 offices at the beginning of 2016. In addition he has held many positions within the UK’s industry steering committees and with other organisations with an international remit.

On his 42 years of service, Ladislav commented “I have very much enjoyed my time at the helm of UHY Hacker Young. I have seen the evolution of the firm first-hand, having worked with UHY since 1974, and have witnessed UHY Hacker Young go from strength to strength, with extensive growth nationwide. I thank all of those that have shared this journey with me and have helped us become the firm that we are today, partners and staff alike.”

Ladislav has now handed over the reins to Laurence Sacker who joined the London office in 1998. Laurence’s appointment will see the firm continue its focus on developing client services and driving further growth, enhancing sector strengths and service specialisms, and cementing its position as a firm which combines the client care of a small-to-mid-sized firm with big-firm expertise.

Speaking on his appointment Laurence commented: “I’d like to thank Ladislav on behalf of everyone at UHY Hacker Young for his enormous contribution to the firm’s impressive performance during his tenure. Ladislav has helped build UHY Hacker Young into a very solid and well regarded firm. I’m delighted to be taking over the role of managing partner to help continue to build on its success.”
