Here, we've gathered answers to some of the most frequently asked questions to help you take the next step with confidence.

Where can I view your current opportunities?

Our currently open early careers opportunities can be viewed here.

What is the AAT course and is it right for me?

An AAT qualification is a professional accountancy qualification offered by the Association of Accounting Technicians (AAT).

If you are considering a career in accountancy and audit but do not want university education, the AAT offers the opportunity to gain a professional qualification and earn a salary at the same time as gaining relevant work experience for your CV.

Under our AAT Accounting qualification programme, you will be given early responsibility from day one and can expect exposure to clients incorporating a wide diversity of work and various challenges that will help you develop the skills you need to succeed as an accountant.

Does UHY provide sponsorship?

To be employed by us, you must be able to work in the UK, without restrictions. If you are interested in one of our vacancies but require a visa, this will be at the discretion of the recruiting office.

In London and Nottingham, we do offer visa sponsorship which is paid back by the employee. Please note that your eligibility and the process that applies depends on individual circumstances.

If you would like to find out about the sponsorship options of a different location, please get in touch via our online contact form.

How many people does UHY take?

The number of early career recruits vary across the year and department. More information will be shared about this as you progress through the application process.

How long does the course take?

The AAT non-graduate programme at UHY Hacker Young can last between 18 to 30 months, depending whether you join the scheme at level 2 or level 3. At the end of the scheme you will be Level 4 AAT qualified. Upon successful completion you will then have the opportunity to complete the ICAEW or ACCA professional qualification and work towards your chartered status. This ultimately means you can be professionally chartered within five years of study.

What does study support mean?

You will be given paid leave to attend your courses over a 6-week period per module. These courses include taught, revision, mock exam and recap sessions. Through your training provider you will have access to content on your account, quizzes to test your knowledge and an education support team you can contact for any queries or struggles you might have. You are also given up to 2 working days of paid leave for private revision during the exam week.

Is there any other training available at UHY outside of my qualification?

At UHY, we offer internal student courses in accounting and auditing, designed to strengthen your foundational knowledge as you progress through your AAT studies and work towards a Level 7 qualification.

Do you take exemptions?

We accept all exemptions for ACCA and all exemptions for ACA except for the Certificate Accounting and Assurance papers. The firm pays for all exemptions.
