What training routes are available?

Most of our trainees study to obtain the ACA or ACCA qualification, while others follow more tax or business solutions focused pathways. You can find out more about the different pathways that we offer on this page.

Does UHY provide sponsorship?

To be employed by us, you must be able to work in the UK, without restrictions. If you are interested in one of our vacancies but require a visa, this will be at the discretion of the recruiting office. 

In London and Nottingham, we do offer visa sponsorship which is paid back by the employee. Please note that your eligibility and the process that applies depends on individual circumstances.

What are the entry requirements?

Entry requirements may vary depending on the location you are applying to.

For our London and Nottingham offices, the entry requirements are:

  • GCSE Maths & English – Grade B or 6
  • A Levels or equivalents – B, B, C
  • University Degree – 2:1 minimum

How many people does UHY take?

The number of early career recruits vary across the year and department. More information will be shared about this as you progress through the application process.

What would my exam route look like?

We expect students to sit their first Certificate exams (ACA) or Knowledge Modules (ACCA) before moving onto the paper sittings. From then on you would normally sit 2 papers in a sitting twice a year (June and December).

When can I take my exams?

For Skills Modules (ACCA) and above and Professional Level (ACA) and above there are 4 sittings a year – March, June, September and December. We would have you sit 2 papers at a time on the June and December sitting or March and September sitting.

What does study support mean?

You will be given paid leave to attend your courses over a 6-week period per module. These courses include taught, revision, mock exam and recap sessions. Through your training provider you will have access to content on your account, quizzes to test your knowledge and an education support team you can contact for any queries or struggles you might have. You are also given up to 2 working days of paid leave for private revision during the exam week.

Is there any other training available at UHY outside of my qualification?

We offer internal student courses in accounting and auditing in line with your ACA/ACCA qualification. These courses are 4 days-1 weeklong twice a year over 3 years. There are monthly lunch and learns covering various topics, specialised sector training and student workshops. 

Do you take exemptions?

We accept all exemptions for ACCA and all exemptions for ACA except for the Certificate Accounting and Assurance papers. The firm pays for all exemptions.
