Les commenced training as a Chartered Accountant in 2002 upon finishing university at Christ Church, Oxford, and qualified in 2005. He developed a wide range of audit and accountancy experience prior to joining UHY Hacker Young in 2008.
Les became an associate of the firm in 2015, being involved with the development of the office’s specialist retail pharmacy department, which he now manages. The department encompasses all areas of audit and accountancy, business development advice and also advice and due diligence on pharmacy acquisitions.
Les is the main point of contact for all such clients, advising on all areas from future taxation planning, through to the commercial aspects of the business and profit improvement possibilities that can be ascertained from the accounts and management information available.
Les also works closely with other owner-managed businesses, across all sectors, with specific emphasis on the interaction between a business’s accounts and tax position, of both the company and the shareholders/directors.
Les qualified as a Chartered Tax Adviser in November 2014 to advance his interest in and ability to advise on tax planning for owner-managed businesses. He put a special emphasis on the owners’ long-term plans for their business, including the tax efficiency of both future acquisitions and disposals.
Les also has an interest in the application of technology to business more broadly, as well as accounting, and is a Xero Certified Adviser.
