We are thrilled to have been appointed as auditors and tax advisers to the Elton John AIDS Foundation (EJAF).
EJAF funds frontline programmes that help to alleviate the pain – whether physical, emotional or financial – of those living with, affected by or at risk of HIV/AIDS, and to continue the fight against this worldwide pandemic, so that no one is left behind.
The Foundation is currently piloting the world’s first Social Impact Bond designed to tackle HIV in London, which offers an innovative approach to social and financial returns. Supported by a National Lottery grant from the Big Lottery Fund, the aim of the collaboration is to dramatically reduce HIV transmission in South East London by bringing additional investment to fund the commissioning of new evidence based interventions to address local health needs.
Subarna Banerjee, partner at UHY Hacker Young and head of our national charity sector, said “we are delighted to have been appointed to support EJAF which undertakes extremely important work in the UK and abroad. It is a particularly exciting time for the Foundation with the launch of the Social Impact Bond and we are proud to be able to support them in their work to tackle this pressing issue.”
A committee of the Trustees completed a tender process for an audit firm and their recommendation to appoint UHY was ratified by the main Board.
Commenting on the appointment, Fiona Russell, Finance Director at EJAF, said “we felt the UHY Hacker Young team would be a great fit for the Foundation. They clearly have the expertise and experience to help EJAF in the future. We were impressed by their enthusiasm to work with us and they provided us with great references from their existing charity clients. We look forward to working with them.”
