Ten days to go: Teachers’ Pension End of Year Certificate deadline is fast approaching

21 May 2018

Just a reminder that the Teachers’ Pension End of Year Certificate (EOYC) deadline is fast approaching.  All academies need to submit an unaudited EOYC by Thursday 31 May 2018.

The EOYC is essentially a summary which details the contributions made by the employer and employees to the TPS for the financial year to 31 March 2018 split out into different categories and contribution tiers.  The amounts included in the EOYC should be reconciled to the total contribution made to the TPS which should have been included in an email sent to each employer.  If you are unable to reconcile the amounts you should contact the TPS prior to returning the EOYC to the TPS by 31 May 2018.

The Teachers’ Pension require the EOYC to be audited.  Your external auditor will need to undertake their audit work on the return and submit it directly to the Teachers’ Pension, together with their assurance report, by Friday 28 September 2018 for Non Local Authority establishments and by Friday 30 November for Local Authorities.

Your auditor will need to follow the TP05 guidance when completing their work – however the 2017/18 guidance has yet to be issued by the TPS and as yet there is no date scheduled for its issue.  So for those of you who intend to submit an audited return before the 31 May 2018, your auditor should refer to the TP05 2016/17 version 5 guidance, issued last year, until the 2017/18 guidance is published.

If you have any queries regarding the above then the TPS website offers guidance for completing the return.
