- New China team recruited as part of the London Audit Group
- Audit partner Julie Wilson appointed to lead the China desk
UHY Hacker Young has appointed Julie Wilson as audit partner to head up our new China team.
Grace Lim has also been recruited as assistant audit manager to support Julie on the China Desk. Both Julie and Grace are fluent Mandarin and Cantonese speakers.
In addition, Laurence Sacker, corporate finance partner in our London office, will be working closely with the team to further develop his established practice in IPO work from China.
Julie joined UHY Hacker Young in June 2010, prior to which she spent 5 years as a partner at a niche international accountancy specialist firm where she worked on mainly China based clients.
Her new position at the UHY Hacker Young China Desk will be to combine roles as auditor to the UK subsidiaries of a number of major Chinese companies with developing additional audit and IPO work from China. New account wins have already been secured by UHY Hacker Young, including a Chinese AIM-listed company.
We have been working for a number of years to develop relationships between the UK and China, which is seen as the world’s fastest growing major economy.
Laurence says: “We have spent some time developing contacts and relationships between the UK and China, in particular with the intention to introduce Chinese companies to AIM and PLUS in the UK. The set-up of a designated, full-time China business team was the next step in our campaign.
“Although we have always been able to link up with UHY International colleagues in China and Hong Kong, one of the most frequent concerns for potential clients in China working with a UK firm is their ability to understand the Chinese business environment and how we will work in Mandarin. With Julie and Grace on board this ceases to be an issue.”
Adds Laurence: “Julie Wilson has an excellent practical knowledge of the Chinese business environment and of Chinese accounting. She and Grace both spend a large amount of time in mainland China, and Julie has an extensive contact base.”
