HMRC confirm 326 businesses hit by ‘Sugar Tax’
HMRC has confirmed that 326 soft drinks manufacturers have been hit by the so-called ‘Sugar Tax’, our research shows.
The Soft Drinks Industry Levy was introduced on April 6, and taxes manufacturers 18p per litre produced if the drink contains 5 grams of sugar per 100ml, and 24p per litre for more than 8 grams of sugar.
Brand new taxes introduced since the recession hit taxpayers for £28 billion

The eight brand new HMRC taxes and levies introduced since the credit crunch, such as the Sugar Tax and Diverted Profits Tax, added a quarter to the total number of taxes collected by HMRC. There are now 36 major taxes collected by HMRC.
