UHY Calvert Smith, our York office, is pleased to announce the appointment of Harry Howley as a new partner.

Harry Howley, aged just 29, has been promoted from senior manager to partner as of today (1 April 2017).

Harry specialises in all aspects of audit and works across a wide range of sectors, with a particular focus on charities, education and owner-managed businesses (OMBs) across York and the surrounding North-East area.

He also has significant general practice experience and possesses a particular interest in assisting start-ups and entrepreneurial businesses.

Harry first joined UHY Calvert Smith in 2005 as a trainee. He qualified in 2010 and spent another two years with the firm before taking up a position at Leeds-based Murray Harcourt, an independent audit, tax and risk management firm. He then returned to UHY Calvert Smith in Spring 2014 as a senior manager, and has remained there since.

He manages a portfolio of SME clients, consisting mainly of OMBs, independent schools and charities.

Harry Howley comments: “I am excited about developing my role within UHY Calvert Smith, across both audit and advisory, building relationships with new and existing clients across a range of sectors.”

“A lot of my focus on the coming months will centre around Making Tax Digital and how we can help our clients adapt to the changes there.”

Nevil Pearce, partner at UHY Calvert Smith comments: “We are delighted to see Harry promoted to partnership. He brings a wealth of experience and will play a vital role in the development of our work in York.”

“At just 29 years old, Harry represents the future and his appointment is part of our succession strategy for the long-term development of the firm.”

“Despite his young age, clients have shown a great deal of confidence in Harry’s ability. He is regularly recommended to third parties by those already working with him.”
